Chan May Cruise Port

Chan May is mostly used by cruise ships for visits to Hue. Hue (Huế) is in the central region of Vietnam and is the former imperial capital.

Hue’s weather is infamously bad: the Truong Son Mountains just to the south seem to bottle up all the moisture, so it’s usually misty, drizzly, or outright rainy. Things get even wetter than usual in the winter rainy season, especially from February to the end of March. It’s usually quite dry during the summer months, when the temperature can reach the high 30s.

Be suspicious of locals asking where you are from and then claiming to have family living there as this can be a scam: they will ask you to sit down for lunch/dinner with them and talk – and leave you to pick up the bill – often at higher than usual prices !

There is very little to do around the cruise port. Trips to Hue aor Hoi An take around 1.5 hours.

Local curreny is Vietnamese Dong VND

Please Note – when booking a private excursion that is not operated by the cruise line it is your responsibility to ensure that you are back in port in good time for the ‘All Aboard’ time. We suggest allowing at least 1 hour after your ships arrival in port to allow for immigration clearances and plan to be back in port at least 1 hour before ‘All Aboard’ time to allow for any traffic issues etc on your return journey.
